committee of Edessa Syriac School in
Sweden, in collaboration with the leaders of
Syriac/Aramean clubs, institutions, and
organizations, as well as politicians and
school officials responsible for the
municipality's schools, laid the foundation
stone for the construction of a new, larger,
and more suitable building for Edessa School
in Norsborg (Stockholm).
The foundation stone-laying program included
beautiful speeches from the Edessa School
Committee, several politicians, and the
chairman of the World Syrian Federation, as
well as Syriac hymns performed by the
school's students.
Before the ceremony concluded, his holiness,
the Patriarch of the Syriac Orthodox Church,
arrived, accompanied by several bishops and
priests, to bless the project.
After refreshments, the ceremony concluded,
and the construction of a new building for
the Edessa School to meet the demand of a
larger student body will continue.
Finally, we must thank Mr. Sami Rhawi from
the School Committee for his enormous and
continuous efforts to serve this significant
project. He has been watching over this
school with a watchful eye since it opened
17 years ago.
